Hopefully you are all enjoying 2019 so far. 2018 was quite a year of change for me, and I'm working towards achieving the new goal I've set for myself of acquiring a software engineering job to take care of my finances so that I can work on game development in my free time for fun, with no financial pressure. Where am I at in that process right now? I'm working on a portfolio project (a pretty cool retail staff app) which I estimate will take another month or month and a half to complete.
Once that's complete, I'll finish polishing up my resume and start sending the whole package in to apply at companies that meet what I'm looking for. At the moment, I'm working 40 hours a week at a retail job to pay the bills, then outside of that my time is split between job search work (working on my portfolio project, resume, and studying for the technical interview) and R&R. So I'm not actively working on SCO because I don't really have the time or mental energy to do so without getting burnt out.
But once I get the job I'm working towards, my 40 hours a week of work will shift to that, and my third time slice that's currently being used for job search work will shift to being used for SCO. The major upside of this as well is that with a software engineer's salary, I'll be able to fully fund SCO's development and give it the art and animation it deserves. It'll take longer than I originally wanted, but the end result will be better. I appreciate all of your patience and support - If you want more regular updates or just to chat, join the WoB/SCO discord here: Thanks, and happy new year!
